However, when you're using a fire skill, it's typically better to put points into your synergies than into fire mastery. For instance, with 6 to skills and one point into fire mastery, you get 72% fire skill damage. That means, your 5% synergy actually increases your total fire damage by 5 x 1.72 = 8.6 percentage points compared to only 7% from the mastery. Of course, once you havesome points in the synergy, fire mastery becomes better. So, you really should split your points.
Also, when your equipment get's better, usually you get more skills, which adds to fire mastery, but not to your synergies, because only hard points count towards the synergies.

I always teleport into her chamber, draw her close to the door and kill her as close as possible and she kills everything in the next room.. I’ve opened the door and found runes and such dropped I would have missed if I hadn’t checked the room.
