Should You Make Infinity or Enigma First??? Diablo 2 ResurrectedFeb 06 2025
Novakan: You don't need infinity anymore with sunder charms.. enigma opens every character. Always make enigma first
JacobReimschussel: I am so close! I’m at Jah, Sur
bivdog: Infinity for sure!
UnreliableUsername: Its simple really..if your a sorc make infinity 1st, any other character make Enigma
raphbiss1: The ability to reposition your merc with enigma is what makes infinity useful (for example : java, mosaic, fire druids, etc.)
smalps-gaming: Still a tough call for me, but I agree with you on Enigma first. Assuming, this is a starting player, they would likely start as a Blizz sorc, who doesn't really need infinity to be effective with CM, then farming gear to gear up a Pally let's say to farm Torches etc, and if your 2nd char is a Smiter or Hammerdin, Also don't need infinity on those builds.
Awesom-oh: You want to make Infinity because of terror zones clearing... Sorc, sin, ama, are the main for infinity first
faycal799: I started with an infinity eth mancatcher on sp for my nova sorc which allowed me then to farm easily the runes for enigma within a week .
giovannicatamo6348: Ultimately, I made a self wield infinity when i came to this crossroad. Nova sorc is the best main, dont have to aim at anything or potion, its great.
greenwave819: haven't played D2 in 20 years. still knew that the tele on Enigma was the nuts
Tipzpapa: 2 things...
1 - it's all about RNG. I got a Jah/Ber first - so i made enigma lol.
2 - You mentioned the survivability of your merc due to the life and high damage of infinity, but I've found hands down Enigma to be the best way to keep merc alive.
- big group of cows
- shoot shoot shoot
- merc gets too close to death
- tele away.
- rinse and repeat.
ApathyBM: Just depends on what characters you want on ladder. Paladin/Barb of course enigma, Sorc/Amazon Infinity
OfficialPepe: Not even a question. Enigma enables to play literally any build you want as a viable farmchar. Infinity is fine, but with sunders not really needed to tackle immunes. I always get infinity when iam playing a build that really shines with it like nova sorc or mosaicsin. I usually prioritize: Hoto, CTA, Enigma. When i have those, i go for mandatory unique items like arachs, maras etc. Infinity comes after all of that!
morbidsnails1913: I only play offline. I made Infinity first because i found 3 Ber runes way before i ever got a Jah to drop.
Both pieces are must haves though.
testitestmann8819: In D2R I made my first infinty and enigma roughly at the same time. Infinity is nice, but enimga is a game changer.
manso306: Just do it like me and go to LK, have 3 Surs drop within 500 runs, then have a vulture drop a Jah, then 2 Ber from the chests and you're done. Easy peasy, less than 2k runs. And if you want to be thorough, pop an Ohm and Vex as well, now you're basically set to farm any area -- that's how I did it. Just gotta decide to get lucky. I even did it before I found my first white Monarch for Spirit. And no, I realize that all this may sound sarcastic, but I'm 100% serious that this is what happened to me.
Also, a little while later I returned and popped another few Surs, Bers, Los and so on. All together (including a bunch more Los, Bers and Jahs I found in places like Trav and CS) so far I've made 2 Grief, 2 Fortitude, CtA (5/5), Hoto, Enigma, Infinity, Faith, Last Wish, eDeath, Beast, dual Dream, Phoenix, Flickering Flame, Exile, and CoH in less than 1k hours played.
chacky4krsma: Did you guys honestly earn (=find yourself or trade) those Runes & Base-Items? Any single Runeword above Spirit is like a Jackpot for me, each season.
jake9705: Without even thinking about it: Infinity first.
Enigma is easily substituted with a tele staff.
Gsrxq: Infinity is more important. Enigma is more of a convenience armor (not necessary for any build)
Awesom-oh: Make infinity
krom9897: Infinity
darkangelgaming1117: This is perfect timing, just started a SP sorc and paly a few months ago for the first time ever and have them at the point where I am needing high runes for them to get those final runeword gear pieces they will use going forward. I appreciate your advice and insight on these two runewords Phil!
nagual8887: As a SSF player - a few months after release I found a Jah in the Tower and made Enigma on my Nintendo switch to play all classes (and mostly farm with Fist of Havens). I had to cube a ton of runes to make that Ber. Then last month I made a new account on PS5 and found 2 Ber (Stony Tomb and Arcane) and made an Infinity first as I wanted to play Nova. Just cubed up 2 Lo and a Sur to make my third Ber, so I can make Chains of Honor for my Merc (in a sweet 12? eth Lacquered Plate). Nova rocks. Also thanks for all the content, man, keep slayin!
feeblewrk5788: Really depends on the character but it sure helps being able to teleport to target zones, even if the damage output isn’t as much as when using infinity… it negates the need for high damage the entire way to the target zone…. So it’s still faster with enigma in the long run
bobbyventon5015: Like someone else has already pointed out in the comments - if you're going to farm with a sorceress, go infinity first. I will add one caveat though - for a self-infinity sorc having all the gear to hit the 105 fcr bp is just as important as the infinity itself. Before you have your Griffon's (or a GG caster amu GG circlet) it's honestly not that much better than the Crescent Moon Spirit Monarch setup as the loss of dmg output is somewhat compensated for with tele speed a ton of FHR.
secondakira: What I did was make Infinity and use it for my Paladin, because Paladins can farm pretty much anything.
I'm using a FOHdin, but Hammerdin is obviously good as well.
By I now I would have the runes to make Infinity, but I wouldn't be sure which base to use, depending whether it's used for the merc, for a Lightning sorc or a LS zon. lol
